PKV at Redmond's Day of Play photos

Today we ran probably 100 kids through a short course demonstrating the priciples of parkour and how to get into it safely at Redmond's first "Great Day of Play" event. It was a lot of fun for all involved, but I gotta say that for a date devoted to play we were some of the only adults jumping around with the kids ;) Both play and parkour are for everyone no matter your age!

Big thanks to Ian and Bacon for volunteering to man the booth and make our presence possible!

Obstacle Courses

Img_0422

I'd say it's fairly well accepted across the spectrum that running kids through ropes course programs and obstacle courses of various kinds is fantastic for building confidence, teamwork, and physical strength.

Here at the gym we do that EVERY day! Courses are so much fun :)

City Chase Media

A great day of challenge for many unsuspecting participants of City Chase Seattle today. We were invited to contribute a station, so we built a "floor is lava" course through a section of Freeway Park, having teams of two utilize controlled descents, climbs, and quadrupedie to reach their goal. Over one hundred people successfully navigated the abrasive concrete without injury, helping each other in good spirits and with admirable determination--and with plenty of true-felt encouragement from our energetic volunteer coaches. It was truly inspiring to see so many of varying age (from early twenties to sixty) and athleticism (triathletes and stay-at-home moms) tear the course apart--and it was certainly no easy feat! Congratulations to all who came through; those scrapes and bruises are well earned.

Special thanks to Brian, Cory, Kelly, and Matt for excellent work guiding and supporting participants; we couldn't have done it without you!

And some more photos from their photographer who's name I didn't get :(
